GASTONIA, NC (FOX 46) — Emotions pouring from two families outside and inside a Gaston County courtroom Wednesday afternoon where Marquis Graham made his initial court appearance for first degree murder of 2-year-old Kye Rashid.
The two families even briefly crossing paths outside the courtroom after Graham’s appearance.
According to Gaston County Police the two were in a relationship and living together in this mobile home park in Gastonia when the child was brought to Caromont Regional and was pronounced dead November 5th.
However, the suspect’s sister believes there are still unanswered questions about what really happened.
“My brother is a loving person. He loves kids why would he want to do this to someone else’s child,”said Alona Stokley, Graham’s sister.
“You are telling multiple stories. You got a story you are telling me, a story you are telling my sister, a story you are telling my brother and a story you are telling the news and the detectives,” she added.
Both families are hoping the truth will come out and justice will be served.
For someone to hurt him, no matter whoever hurt that baby is wrong. He was 2-years-old. He didn’t even live his life. I just want everyone to keep praying for the answers we are looking for,” said Kye’s grandmother, Sharandah Barnett.
