Charlotte, NC — It’s dark and cold, and most of the world is still sleeping, but these men and women clocking more miles in 30 minutes then most people do in a day. This group of women have been waking up and working out together for the past three years. Following in the footsteps on this group of men who have been doing the same for more than 4 years.
The men exercise in a group called F3, which stands for fitness, fellowship and faith. It’s a concept that started here in Charlotte and has spread to more than ten other states across the country.
For a while, F3 was the only option, an all-male workout group where a handful of men organized various workouts in the city together, whether that means, running, strength or core exercises. Along the way they formed friendships and bonds that can never be broken.
Then, the wives of some of the F3 athletes wanted something just for the ladies. So they started FIA which stands for females in action. It’s the F3 for women and it’s kicked off uniting groups of ladies, encouraging each other to work out and supporting one another along the way.
Katharine and Roger Briggs are married, and she works out with FIA, and he works out with F3. And for both the men and women this workout has shifted the tone of their day, and ultimately their life. While their alarm clock goes off at 4 a.m. they feel more rejuvenated and ready to take on the world, together.
