First child flu-death reported in South Carolina this season

(FOX 46 WJZY) — A child has died of the flu in South Carolina, the state’s first pediatric flu-death this season, according to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. 

DHEC officials said the child died from complications associated with the flu in the Midlands region.

So far, South Carolina has seen 106 flu deaths this season. North Carolina has seen 140

This year’s flu season ranks among the most severe in recent years.
