Fire Chief: Driver breaks leg in single-vehicle wreck on Brookshire Highway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — One person was transported to the hospital after breaking their leg in a single-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon during a rainstorm in Stanley, North Carolina, according to fire officials.

FOX 46 Charlotte’s Photojournalist Brian Christiansen came upon the wreck Monday, April 8 and made the call to 911. Our crew was able to capture the moments as fire crews used the jaws of life to pull the man from his vehicle after swerving off the road. The accident occurred near Brookshire Highway. The driver was on his way to work, according to our news crew.

The fire chief tells FOX 46 Charlotte the driver suffered a broken femur.

Medics and three fire trucks were on scene, altogether about a half dozen first responders.

Officials spent time trying to unhinge the driver’s side door and a rescue crew was able to get the driver out of his vehicle. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
