LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Two parks in Lancaster County were among the locations targeted in a drug roundup this week by sheriff’s deputies. Deputies tell FOX 46 Charlotte they are still searching for 13 other suspects before calling this roundup complete. Neighbors say they applaud the actions by the sheriff to keep drugs out of neighborhood parks.
The drug roundup started last Tuesday. Charges range from distribution of crack, heroin, cocaine, oxycodone, marijuana, and methamphetamine to distribution within proximity of a park.
Deputies say at least six of the suspects distributed drugs within a half mile of Stevens Park in Kershaw and the Wylie Park ballfields in Lancaster.
Since October of last year agents have been going undercover to catch the suspects in the act. In all, 28 suspects have been identified.
The Lancaster County Sheriff applauds the drug task force for getting dangerous drugs off the street. He says they are often cheaply made and laced with deadly amounts fentanyl.
The 13 suspects still on the run have been entered into a national criminal database as deputies continue their search.
