Driver charged with DWI after knocking down power pole, traffic lights

A person has been charged with DWI after they crashed their vehicle, knocking down a power pole and traffic lights in north Charlotte. 

The single-vehicle wreck happened at 1:57 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2 at University City Blvd at E. Mallard Creek Church Road. 

CMPD officers said the vehicle, which was carrying four people, struck a power pole. There were no major injuries reported, however three passengers were transported by Medic. 

Duke Power and CDOT remain on scene, making repairs to the power pole, power lines and traffic control lights.
