Dramatic northern lights display in Finland

News

(FOX NEWS) — Nature’s own light show, the aurora borealis, could be seen over northern Finland this weekend.

A photographer captured this video of the phenomenon from the countryside, about 30 kilometers from the Arctic Circle.

The northern lights are caused by collisions between the earth’s gaseous particles and matter released by the sun’s atmosphere.

Those collisions can disrupt the magnetosphere around the earth’s north and south poles, creating colorful streams in the sky.
