Deputies searching for suspect involved in convenience store shooting


BURKE COUNTY, NC (FOX 46) — Deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a suspect involved in a shooting at Knob Superette on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the parking lot of the convenience store in Connelly Springs in reference to the shooting.  Witnesses told the deputies they heard a gunshot and saw two vehicles leave the parking lot heading in opposite directions of Hwy. 70.

A short time later deputies found a vehicle overturned in a ditch on Berea Church Road, a short distance from the convenience store. No one was in the vehicle and a handgun was found in the roadway, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives also found a sawed-off .20 gauge shotgun in the vehicle. Deputies were told Buddy Cook arrived at CMC Valdese with a gunshot to the abdomen. Cook told officers he was shot by Matthew Revis, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cook was taken to CMC Charlotte and is in stable condition. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant on Revis for Felonious Assault With A Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.
