A resident in Ballantyne has reached out to FOX 46 Charlotte expressing concern after more than one coyote was spotted in his neighborhood.

The coyotes were captured on Trent Hills’ home surveillance around 5:43 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 10 behind his home near the Providence Country Club.

He tells FOX 46 Charlotte they’ve seen “an uptick in coyotes” in the area and neighbors are concerned. He speculates the coyotes are in the area, targeting deer. He found two deer carcasses directly in his back yard this week.

Coyotes are small, usually between 25 and 45 pounds, and very rarely attack humans.

Those living in this particular Ballantyne neighborhood should accompany small pets outside to keep them safe. Bring in any bird feeders, pet food, trash or other things that might attract coyotes to your yard.

Coyotes are native to all of North America, Mexico and Central America.
