CMPD: Suspect surrenders after SWAT responds to shots fired at NE Charlotte apartment

CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) — SWAT was called out after reports of shots fired inside a northeast Charlotte apartment Tuesday afternoon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers responded to the 200 block of Gracyn Olivia Drive in reference to a shots fired call for service.

When officers arrived they heard gunshots fired inside an apartment and called for SWAT.

The suspect voluntarily came out and surrendered to officers. He is currently being taken to an area medical facility for evaluation, according to CMPD.
