CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers are always getting results, but one in particular went the extra mile, literally, to make sure a child got home safe.

The CMPD officer, Sgt. Jeffrey Wheaton, stepped in Tuesday afternoon when the little boy got off of the school bus. Just moments before there was a police chase in the area.
