CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department recently launched their ‘Open Source Data’ page within their website.
Police said this information source is a step forward in how CMPD will share information with the public, as well as an opportunity for even greater accountability and transparency with the community.
The platform, which began construction in 2015, originated from President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The website allows for the public to have access to CMPD information, specifically in the areas of officer involved shootings and traffic stop data.
While CMPD continues to enhance the Open Source Data page with additional data in the future, they would like to bring awareness to its current availability.
