CMPD increasing presence at Southern Christmas Show after attempted kidnapping


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said they’re increasing the number of officers working at the Southern Christmas Show after an attempted kidnapping occurred at the show Saturday evening.

Police said the incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Briar Creek Rd. at the Southern Christmas Show.

A man, described as possibly middle-eastern decent, approached an 11-year-old girl that was walking with her family and tried to walk off with her. As witnesses approached the man, he released his grip on the child and fled on foot.

The man is described as 5’8″ tall, around 150-170 pounds, last seen wearing a blue shirt and red beanie. He was accompanied by a woman of possibly middle-eastern decent, pushing a stroller.
