IREDELL COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A Charleston man is being held on a $2 million bond after deputies said he was caught trafficking heroin in Iredell County earlier this month.
Deputies said at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, March 8 they conducted a traffic stop on a Hertz rental vehicle from the State of Tennessee for a traffic violation.
The driver, Danny Mark Bye, 55, of Charleston, SC, told deputies he was returning to Charleston from Detroit, Michigan. Deputies said Bye appeared very nervous and was unable to speak clearly when asked questions.
Due to the nervousness, deputies asked Bye for consent to search his vehicle and consent was given. Upon searching the rented vehicle, deputies found 30.4 grams of heroin in some clothing in the front passenger seat and an additional gram in Bye’s wallet.
Bye was arrested and charged with felony trafficking heroin by transport, felony trafficking heroin by possession and felony maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for selling controlled substances.
