PITTSBURGH, Penn. — A baby sloth has made her public debut at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.
Vivien, a two-toed sloth named after actress Vivien Leigh, was born last August.
She was kept away from the public to allow her to grow and get stronger. The sloth now weighs two and a half pounds and is about 14 inches long.
Vivien will be hand-raised by aviary experts so she’ll be comfortable around people and prepared for her role as an educational ambassador.
Visitors will be able to meet Vivien in person during feeding times at the National Aviary, or they can meet her for a 30-minute private encounter if booked through the National Aviary ahead of time starting Feb. 1.
