CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in connection to a man who was found shot to death inside his car near Panera Bread Thursday in southwest Charlotte.

Jeffrey Javon Boggs, 24, is charged in the murder of Demarco Travyon Pegues. The 31-year-old was found dead with a gunshot wound inside his car in the 8100 block of South Tryon Street around lunch time.

Boggs was taken into custody at a hotel on Lucky Penny Street in Charlotte and was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Authorities say while the motive for the crime is not clear, it has been determined that Boggs and Pegues knew each other.

The death marks Charlotte’s 12th homicide of 2018.
