HUNTERSVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — One person is dead after being shot by police in Huntersville overnight Monday at a local hospital, officials say.
Huntersville Police were called about 11:40 p.m. Sunday to Presbyterian Hospital for an active shooter situation. According to Chief William Sturgill, the suspect was armed and firing shots inside the hospital.
No patients, hospital staff, or LEOs were hurt.
Chief Sturgill tells FOX 46 Charlotte he believes his officers did the right thing by shooting the armed suspect. He says SBI has been contacted.

We know the suspect is a male, but police have not released a name yet. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
