911 Call: Mother, two toddlers hospitalized after east Charlotte hit-and-run


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are continuing to search for the driver of a car who plowed into five people on Sunday.

The incident happened on Dinglewood Avenue in east Charlotte.

CMPD is calling this a hit-and-run. It happened just after 8:00 p.m. and police said a mother and her two children were sent to the hospital.

A victim told FOX 46 Charlotte an SUV came at them and sideswiped a car along the way. They were all standing together and the children were thrown on impact.

He said the children are in the hospital, along with their mother, whose legs were broken.

CMPD released the 911 call on Monday afternoon. 

Caller: “A car just came through here, hit multiple people. Please hurry there’s kids out here.”

Dispatcher: “How many kids are hurt?” 

Caller: “It’s at least two toddlers and two adults.”

Dispatcher: “Is the vehicle still there?”

Caller: “No it drove down the street fast.”

Dispatcher: “So it hit them and left?”

Caller: “Yes.”

Dispatcher: “Do you know what color and type of vehicle it was?”

Caller: “I just heard my kids screaming, please hurry.”
