7-Eleven clerk shot, killed in south Charlotte


CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — UPDATE: 12/9/2017 – The clerk has been identified as Khaled Mohamad Elmerkabaoui, 55 years old.


The clerk at a 7-Eleven in south Charlotte was shot, killed early Saturday, police say.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, a customer of the 7-Eleven in the 700 block of Westinghouse Blvd. called 911 around 3:21 am reporting that the clerk had been shot. 

When officers arrived on scene they located the clerk lying on the floor inside the store suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Medic pronounced the store clerk dead on scene. The victims identity will be released pending family notification. 

Police say the customer came inside the store to shop and that is when they located the store employee on the floor and immediately called 911. 

This is an active investigation. Police ask anyone with any information on this homicide to call the CMPD Homicide Unit at 704-432-TIPS, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
