5ft baby great white shark pings off Kure Beach, North Carolina

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A 5-foot baby male great white shark named Bruin is hanging out just off the east coast of North Carolina near Kure Beach. 

According to the tracking site, Ocearch, Bruin pinged just east of Kure Beach around 5:48 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16 and appears tobe headed back out to the Atlantic Ocean. 

Bruin is a young of the year white shark and was tagged on August 12, 2017 during Expedition New York, Ocearch says.

This shark was named for the students at the Brunswick school in Greenwitch, Connecticut so they have a shark to track. Go Bruin’s!  He weighs 101 pounds and it 5 feet, 5 inches long.
