10-year-old girl killed in Albemarle crash involving Dept. of Corrections van


ALBEMARLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A 10-year-old girl was killed in a wreck Tuesday afternoon involving a Department of Corrections van in Albemarle, police said. 

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 on Anderson Grove Church Road near Sunview Lane.

Police said Jimmy Snavely was driving a 2016 Ford Department of Corrections van and collided with a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Camryn Hamilton. A 10-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Honda, died from her injuries. 

A third vehicle was involved, a 2002 Mitsubishi Galante driven by Mary Daniel.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing as police attempt to reconstruct the crash.
