Derek Dellinger

Derek Dellinger is a reporter for FOX 46 Charlotte, having joined the station in October 2018.  He can regularly be seen on FOX46 News at 10 and as an occasional fill-in anchor.

Most of his life and career have been spent covering the Carolinas, in one way or another.  Born in the mountains of western North Carolina, he started working in broasdcasting as a teenager in high school, before making the switch to television.

Over the course of his career, he’s covered hurricanes, earthquakes and has traveled the country to cover everything from sports to politics.

Prior to coming to Charlotte, he worked for FOX Carolina News, just down the road on Interstate 85 in Greenville.  He spent seven years there, starting as a reporter and later became weekend anchor.  While there, he covered major crime stories, severe weather, and anchored and reported live coverage on the life of the Reverend Billy Graham and how the country honored him.

Before that, he worked in Fort Myers and Chattanooga, Tennessee in television.  He worked in radio in Tennessee and western North Carolina.

He’s a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
